Announcement Letter
Dear TMLA Family,
The Sisters of St. Joseph and the Board of Trustees are proud to share with you that Miss Livia Angiolillo will be the first president of The Mary Louis Academy. Miss Angiolillo is the dynamic, inspiring, and experienced educational leader envisioned by the search committee in all its deliberations. Her deep regard for the consequential influence of her Convent of the Sacred Heart education makes her eager to return home to an all-girls educational institution.
The Board of Trustees unanimously supports the selection of Miss Angiolillo and values her experience, enthusiasm, energy, and commitment to the mission of TMLA. The Board is confident that Miss Angiolillo will work well with the faculty and staff. Together, they will continue providing young women with an excellent educational experience and all that they need to make a positive difference in the world.
Miss Angiolillo’s educational background is a powerful reflection of her single-sex education at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, CT. She graduated with honors from Amherst College, earned two graduate degrees from Teachers College Columbia University, and a Juris Doctorate from Columbia University School of Law with deep research and practical experience in education law.
A successful educator, Miss Angiolillo brings more than 15 years of leadership experience in grades K–12. Currently, she is the Managing Director for Bold Charter Schools, where she is responsible for the day-to-day management of two campuses and all school administrators, junior leaders, and instructional personnel. Prior to her current role, Miss Angiolillo served four years as the Principal of Brooklyn Ascend High School, a college preparatory public charter. She co-founded the Uncommon Collegiate Charter High School and, for seven years, served as its school leader. Rigorous and foundational education, coupled with an eagerness to learn, have made college matriculation possible for 100% of graduating students.
The mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph and The Mary Louis Academy speaks to her belief that education, in the words of St. Madeleine Sophie Barat, would “rebuild the fractured world in hope.” Miss Angiolillo looks forward to contributing to an institution that leads by example and graduates women to be “a force for good in society.” Her personal belief in service, compassion, and growth aligns with TMLA’s goal for its students to use their gifts as leaders in creating a just society.
